Updated: Pretty but not as smart as I had hoped

I'm updating my prior review. Bond was very responsive - on a Sunday no less - and after a few rounds of troubleshooting finally got me to the point where I could get the smart part of the fan working across to Google Home. The fan is gorgeous and does live up to its "smart" name. A few things to note: 1. Install is about as good/bad as every fan to install. The blades are a bit tricky, especially since they give you gloves to work with the liquid nickel finish since the oil in your fingers will ruin the finish (supposedly - I didn't risk it). Once you have the first blade seated correctly, the second is easier and the third is a pain. But they do all fit. 2. The fan comes with a remote, which is a problem if you have a wall switch that is now a hole. The fan only permits one controller, so you have to either purchase a separate switch or use the remote - you cannot do both. The remote (or the wall switch) does permit you to pick a different channel, which is fantastic as your neighbors probably won't and so just a few flicks and you've got a unique signal to your fan. 3. As with most smart fans, their own app (in this case, Bond Home) will offer more options than Google Home. Google Home only offers on/off for the light and on/off for the fan. You'll have to set speed either at the remote/wall or in the Bond app. 4. The app is Bond Home, based on Minka Aire's partnership with them. No need to buy the hub - and I'm overjoyed to realize that. YMMV if you don't have Google/Alexa or if you have multiple fans. 5. The app was not linking correctly to Google Home at first. Ultimately, I disconnected the app, tripped the circuit breaker for 30 seconds, turned it back on, waited 2 minutes for the wall switch and app to reconnect, tested those to confirm they worked, then re-linked Bond Home to Google Home. Kismet. So if at first it is not working, try that. This is a beautiful fan with a great price and install procedure that is well thought through. They don't tell you about the Bond app or about only linking to one remote/wall controller, which is frustrating. I'd recommend it though.

Pretty, but not as smart as I hoped

I bought this to replace a smart fan that stubbornly kept refusing to work. I did a bit of research to make sure we could get a fan that would integrate with Google Home. Unfortunately, this fan does not, even though it says it does. It does integrate with the Bond app, but Bond will not support integrating with Google home unless you buy their $99 bridge. That is a lot of money and an extra device to put somewhere in my home. Had I known this would require a bridge, I would not have brought it. I am debating whether to return it, since it doesn't work as expected.
