Featured Designer: Karim Rashid

With over 3000 designs in production, Karim Rashid is one of today’s most prolific designers. The award winning designer has received over 300 awards worldwide, and consistently strives to influence society by creating designs that speak to the cultural identity of today’s generation. Rashid also frequents global conferences and universities to share his thoughts on the importance of design in everyday life. He believes design is poetic—organic, natural, fluid. The essence of design shapes the human experience, and the culture in which humans manifest. Design speaks to a generation, allowing individuals to be focused in the now, to live in the present, and to drift from nostalgia.

Rashid has worked with a plethora of brands, producing designs for Umbra, Bobble, 3M, Artemide, Samsung, Sony Ericson, Paris Baguette, Kenzo, Hugo Boss and more. The dynamic designer has also dabbled in interiors, graphics, exhibition displays, fashion, music, etc.

As a cultural shaper, Rashid’s vision is to affect change. To have individuals be attune with the present.  He says, “If human nature is to live in the past – to change the world is to change human nature.”

Take a look at some of Karim Rashid’s designs below; they reflect his ideals of what design should be—organic, natural, and fluid.
